This little restaurant was a pleasant little surprise in the middle of Bellows Falls. Set in a former JJ Newberry's dept store. You place your order at the counter and they'll bring it out to you. We had 1/2 sesame chicken sandwiches and cup of soup lunch special. I chose split pea soup and my friend chose tomato cheddar. Everything was delicious. And me fairly quickly. Special included some chips as well as some homemade croutons for the soup. Would we go back? Yes!

I'd say, one of the best places to get some grub in Bellows Falls. When I was a freelance graphic designer, this was a common meeting place for me and my clients to discuss projects. (At the time, there was nowhere else public in BF to do that sort of thing.) My only two gripes really are that 1) they should be open on Saturday, and 2) the ban against being able to plug in your laptop/devices/etc. is a bit lame in this day and age. (Unless they changed that recently.) But--who doesn't love their pretzels!? And, everything else I've ever gotten there has been beyond decent. Finally, as I also mentioned in my review for Springfield's JennyWren Cafe, they sell Boylan Black Cherry soda, which always gets points in my book :)

This was part of our "get off random exit and look for something nice" program. When we found it we were excited. Pretzel sandwich and grilled cheese were OK but place is understaffed. I think there were just 2 women working there. Took a full 40 minutes to be served a soup, pretzel sandwich, and grilled cheese. The soup did not even come out earlier it came out with everything else 40 minutes later. We were not the only ones that it took forever. I know things go at a little slower pace in nice rural areas but 40 minutes for a sandwich is absurd. Someone here said it is a good place for a "quick" lunch I do not think that is true. We were in no hurry either just hungry.

From handcrafted stuffed pretzels made in the kitchen to serving local Mocha Joe's coffee, Vermont Pretzel is the first stop I make when visiting the area. The pretzel sandwiches are amazing, toasted and crisp, with delicious and fresh fillings. Well worth any wait, although the multiple times I've been, service was prompt and friendly.

This place was great! I got the soup of the day and it was awesome and definitely home made. I took a pretzel home and loved it!! Super cute!!

I need everyone to listen very closely. Anyone within a 15 mile radius of Bellows Falls downtown...stand up, grab your wallet, run to your car, follow speed laws, and get down to Vermont Pretzel & Cookie Company. I had the best sandwich of my life at this place. I just started working at a local business in downtown Bellows Falls and asked where a good, quick lunch spot was. I was told that there was a subway and two cafes in walking distance. I HATE Subway, and decided to go try a local cafe. Sweet Jesus thank you for this place. It was not only bright and cheery, it was also welcoming and felt like sitting in your grandparents kitchen as a kid. There was original advertisements for the restaraunt that was there before from the 30's I believe. It was super clean, except for the bathroom. It wasnt that the bathroom was dirty, you could just see the behind the scenes of a bathroom that takes away from the decor in the dining room. I ordered what im going to call the "Thanksgiving Insanity". It was homemade stuffing with turkey and cranberry on fresh Rosemary bread *dab napkin onto drool*. It was buttery and crispy from the grillcheese style cooking I am going to assume took place. The cranberry sauce was amazing as well as the homemade stuffing. The stuffing was made of large chunks of bread, celery, onions, and seasoning. I think there was also a hint of Crack infused in the turkey. That is the only thing that explains why I want 10 more in my stomach right now. They have other sandwiches that I will try when this sandwich is no longer offered as a special. My only real complaint for this location is that it needs more drink choices. I do not really enjoy drinking juice with my lunch. I would have liked a nice lemonaid that is not 5 bucks because it is organic. Or, allow people to bring there own drinks into the establishment. This is an A+++ establishment. (I am only basing my opinion on that one sandwich, but feel as though if all there products are as fresh and delicious as this one, there really cannot be a bad thing in this place!!!!!)

Little slow on the service, but worth the wait for a stuffed pretzel. Cheap and delicious. Excellent coffee. When things were slow, someone came out and wiped down the tables - something you rarely see in hip coffee places. Can't wait to come back for lunch sometime.

Food is Sooooo Gooood! Great breakfast sandwiches. Great lunches. Pretty good coffee (depending on your taste). Service is spotty; always prety quick but sometimes friendly, sometimes not. Local art work on the walls. Good spot for people watching. Usually plenty of room to relax, if you just wanna hang for coffee. Love it! Just wish they were open later.

In the now-often bustling business district of Bellows Falls, Vermont Pretzel is a unique treat. The pretzel sandwiches -- no kidding -- turned out delicious; one was a pizza pretzel (think bagel) and the other was herb and cheese, both stuffed with chicken sesame and the fixins' including lettuce, tomato and onion. They serve this with chips and pickles. We loved it! There are a variety of pretzels and fillings, but we had been told to order the chicken, and we're very glad we did. There are also soups and salads available, and at lunch the place was pretty crowded. You order and get a seat (tables or counter) and the food is delivered quickly. It's freshly made and, as we said, yummy. A great luncheon stop.

Silly me, I expected a decent, homemade fresh pretzel

BAD coffee, old cakes - go to the cafe just 3 doors to your left!

We had a party of 10 and all the food was fresh and fantastic. Need a bit more seating area and drink selection, but other than that, a very nice place with good salads, nice home-made tasting soups, and unique food selection. For the price you pay and the freshness of the food, this is a 5 out of 5. It is not fancy and doesn't pretend to be. This is one of those places you should pick over any chain restaurant for lunch. You can't go wrong

Pretty solid place to grab a bite to eat. I have only tried the sandwiches but I would assume there are many people who don't know they even have sandwiches due to their name. Either way, I'm a fan. Nothing to drive out of your way to go to but I liked it.
